Funny notes at work

So I got a raise this year, amazingly enough with the rough economy and all….and strangely enough they like to announce the well-doings amonst the floor in a mass email.  And thought I would share the news with my sister in the land of far, far away.

Me: OMG, everyone is saying congrats and how deserving I am!

Sis:  Wow, aren’t you amazing

Me:  Yeah, it’s funny, how many people are responding 20+ emails.  It’s like they all really love me!

Sis:  OMG, you won’t be able to fit your head out of the building

Co-Worker:  Congratulations!  Very deserving

Me *turning around with a big smile on my face* Thhhhhaaaaaaaaannnnnkk

Then I realize she is on the phone saying the same spiel to another lucky associate…

Me:  Maybe people just say deserving maybe it doesn’t mean anything special at all.

Sis:  You are crazy!!!

*sigh*  oh the roller coaster of the middle childs mind

Ridiculous!

So, you would think with the economy the way it is…I seem to be getting a little more anal retentive about doing my job perfectly, I’m reaching in my empty pockets and filling up my gas tank, I’m looking at my new mortgage based on the tax increases…the list goes on, but again you read blogs for an escape, right?

Anyways, you would think with the way things are right now people would have a little tact, right?  So I get this message on my phone on the way home today:

Message: Hi this is Shasta pools…we see you bought your house about a year and a half ago and we are wondering if now would be a good time to put in a pool.  We have some great deals right now, so give us a call back at 1-800-we are ridiculous.

K so I’ve changed up the phone number a bit. I just had to laugh at the idea of it now, given the way things have been lately it being a great time for a pool.
